START programs

New to Curtin Mentor Program

The New to Curtin Mentor Program involves senior students providing support and advice to new students making the transition into university. Go to the New to Curtin Mentoring Program for more information.

UniPASS program

The UniPASS program at Curtin is a voluntary, peer-facilitated, cooperative, academic assistance program that targets historically difficult units. It can assist in the transition and retention of first and/or second year students. Go to UniPass program

Ally Program

The Curtin Ally Porgram aims to foster a university culture inclusive of sexual and gender diversity, in line with Curtin's policies and values. Go to Ally program

START initiatives

Orientation and student activities

START coordinates O-Week at the start of each semester. Orientation (or O-Week) provides new students with a fun and informative way of preparing them for uni. Go to Orientation for more information.

Student Wellbeing Advisory Service

To support the welfare and learning of Curtin students, START has established a Student Wellbeing Advisory Service with a phone hotline number and email address.

Student Wellbeing Advisors are the first point of contact for students that need a question answered or wish to have someone to voice their concerns with. When necessary, the Student Advisor will make appropriate referrals to other Curtin staff or services or to an outside agency. Go to Student Wellbeing Advisory service.

International students returning home

This online guide is for international students returning home after completing their studies.  It provides advice on visas, travel arrangements, getting your affairs in order, resettling back home and finding employment. Go to International students returning home

Living in Perth and WA student guide

This online guide is for students who are new to Perth and WA, particularly international students. It provides information on getting around, everyday life and things to do and see. Go to Living in Perth and WA guide.

START Facebook

START facilitates a Facebook site for students who are commencing their studies at Curtin. It is targeted at international students, remote/regional students and students at our regional campuses to improve their transition to university life. Login to Facebook and search for 'New to Curtin'.
