Get a mentor

A mentor is a great resource to help you start your studies. Mentors can help you learn about uni and get your questions answered. The best part is they’re students too, so they know what it’s like when you’re starting out.

Past student mentee stories

"It's great to know you always have someone there to talk to that has experienced being a new student at Curtin."

"I received friendly and relevant tips and advice from my mentor about programs and assistance I didn't previously know about."

How a mentor can help

As well as giving you tips about where to get the best (or cheapest) food on campus, your mentor can guide you with:

  • timetabling issues
  • how to submit assignments
  • referencing issues
  • managing your workload
  • finding your way around your campus, including your Library
  • where to find support for personal and study issues.

How to get a mentor

New to Curtin undergraduate students at the Bentley and Kalgoorlie campuses are provided with a student mentor. In most cases, you'll meet your mentor during Orientation. Otherwise, you should hear from your mentor by email in the first couple of weeks of semester.

New to Curtin postgraduate students can connect with a mentor though the Postgraduate Mentor Program.

If you still don't have a mentor by the end of Week 2 of semester, this is what you need to do:

  1. Log into your student email (in OASIS). Check to see if you have an email from your mentor or your school mentor program coordinator.
  2. If you haven't got an email with information about your mentor, enter your details below and we will organise a mentor to contact you.
