HDR skills have a strong focus on research and research-specific writing. They include working with your supervisor, presenting to academic audiences, thesis writing and writing candidacy proposals.

Research requires a specific set of skills that can be new to HDR students. It's important to take the time to understand how to prepare your candidacy proposal, a major step in your research degree. Also, what's it like to actually be a researcher? How do you work with a supervisor? You also want to make sure that you are effective in presenting your research to academic audiences in both written and presentation forms.

Curtin and our partners offer a range of services to HDR students. Check out the downloadable resources and workshops available on this page.

These student-driven Thesis Writing workshops focus on the specific areas of interest of workshop participants. You'll engage in peer reading, and review and edit sections of your own theses or academic papers as part of this workshop. The workshop facilitator will monitor and guide the direction and progress of the sessions, however they will be largely participant driven.
