JCLA teams work on a community project which allows them to apply the skills learnt throughout the program. Teams present the outcomes of the project to business and community leaders at the end of the semester.
Past projects - semester two 2016
Students developed and implemented a sponsorship proposal for cafes to host Befriend’s social events.
The team conducted market research and approached 31 cafes with the proposal, with
three cafes now trialling sponsorship agreements with the organisation.
Lady Lawley Cottage
Participants planned and executed Everyday Heroes, a family fun day for children with disabilities and their families.
The event raised awareness of Lady Lawley Cottage’s services, fundraised $714 and recruited 49 volunteers.
The students also produced a video for future promotional use.
Students produced an awareness video for Melanoma WA and raised auction items for the annual Melanoma WA Ball.
The video debuted on the night of the ball and the auction items raised $50,000 for the organisation.
Students hosted a sold out Unmasked Masquerade Soiree with over 200 attendees.
The event was promoted through a video on social media and raised $5,500 to train 10 new volunteers for the Samaritan’s crisis line phone service.
The Smith Family
Working with The Smith Family, participants organised a networking forum to connect Midland-area schools with community organisations.
The forum fundraised $1,900 for The Smith Family and a social media campaign raised awareness of the organisation’s services.
