LGBTIQ+ and Ally training

Training workshops provide students and staff with information about the issues and needs of LGBTIQ+ staff and students, as well as about the role and expectations of being an Ally.

Training overview

LGBTIQ+ awareness training workshops have been designed for both students and staff, and cover:

  • diversity of sexual and gender expression
  • issues and needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTIQ+) students and staff
  • concepts such as homophobia and heterosexism, and
  • the role and expectations of being an Ally.

This training is in addition to regular refresher online training in Equal Opportunity, Discrimination and Harassment for all Curtin staff.   Staff also have the opportunity to participate in additional training through the Ally workshops.

LGBTIQ+ Awareness Training Sessions for 2018:

Sessions run on the following dates during Semester 1:

  • Thursday 19 April   8.35 - 10.45 AWST
  • Monday     7 May    8.35 - 10.45 AWST
  • Thursday   7 June  12.20 - 14.30  AWST
  • Check back later for Semester 2 dates.


    LGBTIQ+ training and workshops are facilitated by a multidisciplinary team.
