Equity graduation arrangements can be made for students whose scheduled graduation ceremony clashes with their religious convictions.

If you have a graduation ceremony that is scheduled at the same time as one of your obligatory religious Holy days then alternative arrangements can be made via the Wellbeing Service. This may be an alternative graduation ceremony that is scheduled at a different time that does not clash with your religious events or festivals. Please note that only obligatory religious events can receive religious equity. For all religious equity requests you will need to contact the Wellbeing Advisor as part of the process below.

Apply for equity graduation arrangements

Obtain a letter from your religious leader

Ask a recognised leader from your religious community to write a letter or email that explains the religious reasons why you are unable to attend the graduation ceremony at the scheduled time. The letter or email should be addressed to the Graduations Office, and should be emailed or given directly to a Wellbeing Advisor.

Gather student and ceremony information including:

  • Student name and ID
  • Scheduled graduation ceremony time and date
  • Religious festival or Holy day information

Meet with a Wellbeing Advisor

With this information at least 3 weeks prior to the examination period or date of assessment. A Wellbeing Advisor will assess and verify your equity request and submit a request on your behalf for alternative graduation arrangements. Requests can be made via email but are not ideal.

You will receive notification, if applicable, of the alternative graduation ceremony by the Official Communication Channel (OCC) sent to your Curtin provided OASIS account.

Please ensure that you complete all of these steps by the deadline (three weeks prior to the examination period or prior to your assessment due date). Contact the Graduations Office or a Wellbeing Advisor  for more information.
