Financial Concerns

Centrelink - if you are a permanent resident or Australian Citizen, you may be eligible for Centrelink assistance. Check out the Payment Finder within this link for eligibility.

Money Smart - ASIC is a government body and their MoneySmart website has excellent money advice and factsheets on life events such as marketing, mobile plans, buying a car and insurance.

Curtin Scholarships - there are needs and merit based Scholarships so visit this website regularly, or you can set up email alerts so you don't miss any opportunities.

Need a Job - having difficulty getting a job? Curtin Careers and Student Assist at the Guild will give you some guidance on how to effectively write resumes and covering letters.

Fees - if you are having issues with fees make an appointment to see the SSA or Student Assist.

Natural Disasters & International Concerns

If you or your family has been affected by a natural disaster, the following sites may provide assistance:

  • Emergency WA - Western Australia government disaster recovery assistance will be able to guide you what assistance is available within the state.
  • Disaster Assist - Australian government disaster website that will be able to guide you to what assistance is available in other states and internationally.
  • Red Cross - supports disaster victims in a number of ways including financial support and counselling.
  • ER Connect - If you need emergency relief, here you can find services that may be able to assist you. Relief may include overdue bills, Foodbank, and financial counselling.

Family and Domestic Violence

This section contains links relating to violence and abuse:

  • Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC) is the emergency sexual assault service for Perth.
  • Domestic Violence and Advocacy Service (DVAS) is a free service which helps women who have experienced or are at risk of domestic violence access advocacy, legal and Department of Child Protection services.
  • Multicultural Women's Advocacy Service promotes the safety of women, with or without children, from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) backgrounds.
  • Call 100RESPECT - a national counselling helpline, information and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • WA Police

Counselling support:

  • Counselling and Disability Services - Individual sessions and group programs are provided for Curtin students and staff. 
  • Headspace - The National Youth Mental Health Foundation provides early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds.
  • CDS Mental Health Links - a varied list of other mental health services that may be of assistance.

Sexual Health and Diversity

This section contains links to services and organisations assisting people with sexual health and diversity.

  • Get the Facts - a light hearted and interactive website about our bodies, health and relationships.
  • Curtin Health Services - here you can see a doctor for advice and concerns about your sexual health.
  • FPWA Sexual Health Services - a professional counselling services that specialises in unplanned pregnancy, sexual health and sexual relationships, and provides other forms of resources and education.
  • Safe Sex, No Regrets - provides education about safe sex.
  • WA Aids Council - a non-government organisation providing counselling, wellness, referral, general and financial assistance to people living with HIV. It also provides needle and syringe exchange programs and other professional training.
  • The Freedom Centre is here for young people (under 26) to support each other and their communities to be informed, happy and healthy about their sexuality, sex and gender.
  • Living Proud LGBTI Community Services of WA - Provides support, information and resources to promote the wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer and other sexuality, sex and gender diverse people in Western Australia.
  • Curtin Student Guild Queer Department - A representation of the GLBTIQ community on campus.
  • Pride WA - Western Australia's largest community group, representing the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex community.
  • CurtinLife Sexuality and Gender Diversity - on campus support for all.
