External Provider Opportunities

If you're looking for a really unique international experience there are even more options - our global network can take you further.

Third party providers provide a wide variety of programs such as short term courses at an overseas university, internships, volunteer programs and much more! Although the following 3rd party providers are endorsed by Curtin University, they are not managed by Curtin so you need to apply directly to the provider. Program fees apply and you pay these directly to the provider.

How to Apply

To apply for an external provider program follow the process below:

  1. Select the program you want to participate in and submit your application to the provider. Follow the instructions provided by the program provider - some programs will have application deadlines, so check these dates carefully.
  2. Seek approval from your Course Coordinator by completing the Curtin Abroad Study Plan Proposal Form.
    • If you are applying for credit in place of electives you will still need to have this approved by your course coordinator
    • The AIM Overseas program requires that you apply for their program before you apply for credit.
  3. Complete the Curtin University Overseas Study Application Form and submit this to along with your completed Curtin Abroad Study Plan Proposal Form.
    We recommend that you submit this documentation as early as possible.
  4. Don't forget that when you return from the program, to receive to credit you will need to submit your official transcript and marking key to

The Australian Consortium for In-Country Indonesia Studies known as ACICIS (pronounced "Ah-chee-chis" as an Indonesian would) has been opening doors to tertiary institutions throughout Indonesia since 1994, offering a range of study options and in-country support to help students gain invaluable first-hand experience of one of the most diverse countries in the world.

AIM Overseas

AIM Overseas specialises in offering in intensive academic courses (3-4 weeks) taught at universities overseas over the winter and summer holidays. You will be able to make the most of the location with lots of site visits and field trips to places that will increase your learning. Once you have applied, AIM Overseas will check your eligibility for the program and make sure you have all the relevant information. Once you have been accepted, you will be provided with the full course syllabus and you can then seek approval for credit. Please review their FAQ's for more information about their credit process.

ArtBound Initiative (ABI)

ArtBound Initiative (ABI) connects students and recent graduates with key players in the creative industry in New York, Berlin and Hong Kong. With a network of over 150 companies, artists and designers, we offer customized internships for our participants to launch their career. Internships range from 2 to 6 months and are available year-round and placements are available in Design, Fine Arts, Film, TV, Theatre, Fashion, Communications & Marketing.

The program includes an Internship Placement that is tailored to your career goals, with mock interviews and workplace orientation. You will also receive personalised coaching through career development workshops, CV/resume review sessions and portfolio reviews.

ABI provide you with travel support, visa processing, travel and health insurance help, housing arrangements as well as onsite support, orientation upon arrival and a ABI city guide!

The ABI Network provides you with curated events, local networking opportunities and access to alumni and industry professionals.

Challenges Abroad Australia, CAA, is an Australian social enterprise which offers a range of international, community based, transformational learning programs for university students. While making a sustainable contribution to marginalised, developing, overseas communities, students who participate in our programs develop their global citizenship, cultural competency, leadership and employability skills.

CAA offers customised programs that can include inter-disciplinary and degree specific programs; credit bearing work integrated learning placements and practicums; internships; service learning / volunteering programs; and non-credit bearing programs such as employability and leadership programs.

At the heart of our operation is our international development charity, the FutureSense Foundation, FSF, registered in the United Kingdom (charity number 1132101). FutureSense ensures that our programs address the needs of the local communities and develops sustainable partnerships with local organisations as part of a long-term vision to create real and lasting change.

OS-Help is a Commonwealth Government funded loan established to assist eligible students with expenses associated with overseas study.
