Finished your degree - what next?

Finished your degree - what next?

Recent federal government forecasts that 30% of university graduates will not have secured full time employment within four months of completing their degree. Enhance your prospects of becoming one of the successful 70% of students by attending this 4 hour workshop.

Topics will include

  • Writing impressive resume and cover letters (Feel free to bring your resume and cover letter, along with any job advertisements and job descriptions so that you can tailor your documents to these specific roles)
  • Successful job search strategies
  • Addressing selection criteria and interview skills
  • Networking Know-How

This workshop runs for 4 hours, 9:30am to 1:30pm.

What does your cover letter say about you?

An employer’s first introduction to you is through your cover letter - how will you make sure they want to know more? This module will help you understand:

  • What to include in your cover letter
  • How to promote your skills and experiences
  • How to connect with different employers

This workshop counts towards the Careers Employability Award, an accredited program recognised on the Curtin Extra Certificate.

This workshop runs for 60 minutes, 1:00pm - 2:00pm.

Understanding your industry and labour market trends will help you to make informed career decisions.

Understanding your industry and labour market trends will help you to make informed career decisions.

This workshop will help you:

  • Explore why labour market information is important in successfully managing your career journey;
  • Discover how different employment trends can impact on the changing world of work;
  • Access and utilise reliable and credible career information sources;
  • Analyse the link between discipline of study and potential occupations, employers and industries; and
  • Develop your own labour market guide tailored to your preferred career direction.

NB: Where possible, please bring a laptop/IPAD/Phone by which you can access the internet with.

This workshop counts towards the Careers Employability Award, an accredited program recognised on the Curtin Extra Certificate.

This workshop runs for 1 hour, 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

The aim of this workshop is to provide you techniques and resources on how and where to find industry experiences.

The aim of this workshop is to provide you techniques and resources on how and where to find industry experiences.

This workshop develops a lot of the materials covered in 'Stop Googling, Start Networking', which you can do online through the Challenge Platform, or through a face to face workshop which you can book through CareerHub.

You will uncover:

  • What type of job seeker you are
  • How to identify hidden opportunities
  • Successful networking secrets

By the end of this workshop you will have the resources to start looking for, and finding, industry experience opportunities.

This workshop runs for 60 minutes, 3:00pm to 4:00pm.
