Curtin media students enjoy hands-on sports media experience

[Posted: 20 Feb 2018]

Our Curtin University Sports Media Production students were right amongst the action during the 2017 AFL season, recording Peel Thunder WAFL matches for DockerTV at various grounds across the metropolitan area.

The students were tasked with following the WAFL season and producing written and video packages primarily for the DockerTV website.

Sports Media Production is a work integrated learning (WIL) unit which offers a unique opportunity for prospective screen arts and journalism candidates to gain hands-on and real-world television production experience.

Students produce and deliver professional level sports video and written segments for weekly broadcast on the web, and within a strict time frame.

This offers the chance for students to develop teamwork skills, advanced production and organisational skills, and to gather genuine industry knowledge of television broadcast processes that can be applicable beyond the sports-orientated focus of this type of production.
