Curtin Competes in Masters Rowing Championships

[Posted: 6 Jun 2015]

After four intense days of competing in the 2015 Australian Masters Rowing Championships in NSW, three representatives from Curtin University Boat Club (CUBC) head home to Perth for some much deserved R and R.

Karen Clay (Curtin student, School of Mines and Engineering), Kathy Ride and Ronnie Cooper (Curtin Alumni) represented WA in the State Master’s Women’s Eighth crew last Saturday 30 May. They placed fourth with a time of three minutes and thirty six seconds, just shy of Queensland’s record winning three minutes and twenty five seconds.

Karen said the WA team were very pleased with fourth place, considering they hadn’t spent any time training together as a team.

Kathy doubled up her win with a silver in the Mixed Master Doubles in the 60 - 69 year olds category with a fellow Murdoch Boat Club representative.

In the Composite Women’s Masters D Grade, Karen and Kathy won their heat and took out third place in the finals.
