World Cup trophy currently on Curtin grounds

Curtin Stadium would like to congratulate our Men’s Hockey World Cup winning champions and our Women’s Runners Up after a huge victory at the World Cup in the Netherlands last month.

The Kookaburras defeated the home favourites in a sensational grand final 6-1, supported by a hat-trick scored by defender Chris Ciriello in front of a crowd of over 200,000 at Kyocera Stadium.

The women put up a strong fight against the host nation in the finals, but were narrowly defeated by the reigning Olympic champions 2-0.

The trophy is currently located at Hockey WA headquarters on Curtin's Bentley campus in celebration of Australia’s huge success on the world sporting stage.
