Curtin Stadium staff member awarded Australian University Sport travel bursary

[Posted: 23 Jun 2016]

Curtin University Sports Program Officer Michael Gibbings has been awarded the 2016 Conference Travel Bursary as part of the Australian University Sport Career Pathway Program.

The aim of the national program is to provide an opportunity for a staff member from a university member sport delivery agent to attend a domestic or international conference of significant assistance to their role and organisation.

Michael has chosen to use this professional development opportunity to attend the National Sports Convention in Sydney this month, with the bursary covering the flights and event registration fees.

He was selected for the bursary out of a large group of highly competitive entries across universities in Australia.

Michael runs Perth's fastest growing social sport competition, held at Curtin Stadium with nine different sports available across 20 categories.

He is also responsible for establishing professional development opportunities for staff involved in the social sport program with leadership workshops for supervisors and career pathways for umpires.
